It has to do with teaching/classrooms and the government's control over them. He mentions school curriculums and classrooms, and then talks about gripping the cannon(gun) like Fanon(Revolutionary thinker on equality and colinization) and then passing the shells(bullets) to the classmates. Zack is talking about how the classroom is an extention of the goverment and is an attempt to take you under their control while falsly promising you a better life under their leadership(like the European colonies in Africa)while only using you for profit. And how he understood this and is "passing the shells to my classmates" or giving the information on this to his classmates so that they won't take the bait. Metaphorically, it could also represent what he was doing with rage. Bringing understanding to the ignorant. At least that's my take on it. Correct me if you think I'm wrong.

Uncleanjoe, your statement that “churches are usually rightwing” is an egregious hasty generalization. You ignore the fact that many denominations oppose the death penalty. many churches, such as the United Methodist and Episcopalian are split on the issue of gay marriage. Historically many of these churches advocated the abolition of slavery, and opposed segregation. Social activism and championing the rights of the impoverished are quite common among Christian denominations. Other groups such as the quakers and Anabaptists are pacifists.
