| I have not seen the video, but it's supposed to be a play on a Goethe poem and a Brothers Grimm story. My first thoughts on it were that it was a play on the Goethe poem. The poem describes a boy taking pleasure from a rose, probably symbollic of a boy getting pleasure from taking the virginity of some girl. This song, though, introduces an inverse scenario: a girl is getting pleasure and the boy does whatever she tells him to do. "A girl saw a little rose It bloomed there in bright heights" - Virginity "The boy climbs the mountain in torment He doesn't really care about the view Only the little rose is on his mind He brings it to his sweetheart" -He doesn't care about the mechanical process of sex. Pleasing her is more important to him. "At his boots, a stone breaks Doesn't want to be on the cliff anymore And a scream lets everyone know Both are falling to the ground" -Climax Just my thoughts. | |

| deep_fire, very nice. works for me. i hadn't really gotten a meaning out of this one, even on herzeleid. imho, the best song off the album. a lackluster album, but, like radiohead's hail to the thief, utterly worth it, if only for one song. | |

| Not not sure about all of it but i was thinking about this the other day and the chorus "Deep wells, one must dig, if one wants clear water" (sorry if thats not GRAMMATICAL enough for some of you) means thats a lot of effort needs to go into something if you want something worthwhile out of it, like relationships you think? "Deep waters are not still" perhaps saying that something gained from a lot of effort doesnt always end up as perfect or as still as you'd first thought. | |

| Its about a guy doing what it takes to get her what she wants...even if it kills him. Shes cold or she dosent know. One of those. As for the well must be dug,.. If you want clean water, it takes alot of work.... but clean water [has to be deep under ground to be clean] dosnt stay still... but has crazy currents which can wash his ass away (end his life ,ect ect). O the pains guys go through for chickz [manipulative ones] seriously. shit i should know. | |
