	Charles Van Doren was a contestant on a game show who was allowed to cheat by the game show hosts to improve ratings, and was eventually exposed. Rancid use him as a fitting metaphor for urban alieantion and media mendacity in this excellent song that makes good use of Matt's growling voice.

	tv makes your mind dull, lulls you, and then brainwashes you with advertisements. and then will sell anything on thier channel to get more money. van doren was one specific example of useless bs on tv to hook veiwers and create a vicious cycle
