this song's awesome, and i think it's father, not mother, i might be wrong though. it's about when a punk kid moves out and he can be himself(duh) and he doesnt' have to worry about what his parents think. i can kind of relate to this song, but my parents aren't too bad. it reminds me more of my best friend, his are fucking assholes.

Those are all interesting interpetations of this awesome song. I always thought that war was supposed to be taken literally. I think its about a mom who was always trying to get her son to go fight in the war and he didnt want to, but that wouldnt make sense since wolves came out in '95, so i guess i'm wrong lol

i was sure it was father before but...whatever. billy bragg is the man. i never really thought before that "war" isnt literal, just a metaphore for the escalating tension between sammy and his parents. this whole album is so poetic but in a really hard, punk way.

i think everyones crazy. I've never heard anything but mother, it sounds clear to me. anywayz...probably one of my favorite songs on ....And Out Come The Wolves :) doesnt lars fredriksen and the bastards cover a song by billy bragg
