It could be about anyone - whether on drugs or not, just because Pete Doherty is a well known drug addict, it doesn't mean the song is about him. the 'come back to me' bit kind of suggests it's a girlfriend, but again - it could be anyone who he was close to or knew. Who really cares anyway, its a good song.

Maybe he uses the word "darling" to show how close friends he and Pete were.

rumour has it that johnny was the bassist in libertines for a short while n left after a fall out with pete so this would explain the come on back to me part if it were about pete

the song may look like its about pete but im afraid to say its not its actually a love song when johnny was going out with a girl and she lived in dalston and everynight when she went home he wanted her to say, he said in an interview that in someways he can see how people relate it to pete doherty and he thinks its cool but he wrote it as a love song

This song is about Pete Doherty apparently. Dalston is a really rough part of London famous for gangs and drugs.

Well, the 'darling' and 'come back to me' kinda works w/ the Pete thing, since Pete is bi and all, and famed for sharing sexual experiances w/ Carl... so why not Johnny? It's a gorgeous song anyroad.
