| lmao theres definitly no bass at the beginning its actually john frusciante hitting the lower notes on the guitar. if ud all like proof go to windowsmedia.com and search up tell me baby and on there it will say that its by chad smith (i dont know why) but its also from aol.com its actually john playing the lower strings, i thought it was bass too but its not. its still an awesome tab though. | |

| as for the meaning.. well at one of the promo gigs, he said it's about a river that runs into LA, and that works superficially. However i think it's more about the people that move from all over the US to LA to realise their dream of being famous. and the chorus is like him speaking to one of these people, asking about where they came from, and what they want to achieve in Hollywood. that's my take, any other ideas? | |
