why does everything have to be about sex? he just isn't satisfied by the world. sex included. the world just sucks and it isn't satisfying.

I think the third verse is about his losing streak with the opposite sex. I think the second verse is about how people uselessly compare themselves to others for nothing more than cosmetic reasons. I agree with wegot5eyes on the first verse, consumption doesn't yield satisfaction. Only you can bring yourself satisfaction...in my mind, that's the aim of this song. Classic piece of work but it's not the best song of all time. That would be Yawning and Snarling by The Tragically Hip.
