The Quartering Act was passed in 1765 and forced Colonists to house and feed British troops. The colonists thought this unfair and it was only one of many unjust acts passed before the Revolution began. A republic is a type of governmentwhere the people elect officials to make decisions for them. This is the type of government that our forefathers planned for us to be and they stated both in the Constitution and the Pledge of Allegiance.

King George III was the king of England at the time of the Revolutionary War. Americans greatly disliked him and thought of him as unfair and unjust because he passed things such as the Stamp Act, the Quartering Act, and the Hat Act. He also rose taxes so high that it was hard for some to pay them. Because of his unfairness, he gained the nickname "Fat George." The Second Continental Congress sent the Olive Branch Petition to King George III asking to make peace with them. They hoped that he would accept it and remove his soldiers from their posts and help prtect them. King George III did not accept the petition and declared that the Americans were rebels. After this, the Second Continental Congress would lead America inyo war with England. The Preamble is the introduction to the Constitution and was made very vague so that it would be interpreted differently by different people. The Preamble was made to state the purposes of our government and to explain why the Constitution was made.
