| I really love this song and can relate to it in a twisted way somehow. My head was messed up pretty bad when I was I a teenager, was bullied and/or ignored by schoolmates, especially by the boys and it's pretty much like a sad "ugly duckling" story. I changed, became pretty rather late, by the age of 18 or something and suddenly alle the guys seemed to be interrested...though I seem to have difficulties trusting them and often question their real intentions. I know I can get almost any guys attention, but I'm afraid they will se the real me insde of me if I get to close to them. To me the lyrics tell a tale of a girl that has been hurt so many times over that she don't want to go into any deeper relations, she can take them to the moon and then back again (i.e. dump them) because the were already trialed and found guilty. She gets her kicks from getting that boys attention and love, but ends it before he does. The "pilot" could be anyone, whenever she needs it, like out on town, a one night stand, etc. She doesn't want to go further, she doesn't "have a map" for the stuff that involves feelings, so she goes for the alternative. Some of "Garbage"s lyrics describe some of the same feelings, like "Stupid Girl" and many others. | |

| I think this is an amazing song, and I love it. I agree with what's already been said, the song is about a girl who's become cold on the outside because she's been hurt many times but on the inside she secretly wishes to be loved. I'm kinda confused about these two lines though; All her friends they've been tried for treason And crimes that were never defined I'm not sure but does it mean that she drifts away from her friends as well, so sure they will end up hurting her too? And she finds excuses to not be close to them? Let me know how you interpret this part. | |

| yep this song is definitely about a girl that has been hurt badly ...by her parents and everybody she trusts...so shes just waiting for somebody that is like her and will love her enough to make up for all the hurt she has had..to come along...and "take her another world where she belongs"..love this song ..its cool and i think most people can relate ... | |

| first off, great song, even thought im not a saveage garden fan, its great - really sad and kinda dark in a sense. i guess its so easy for so many people to identify with the girl who has been burned by loveer, mistreated by friends and is almose void, or emotionless - or what she puts on hte outside is that, because people see her as "the bitter one". as if shes trying to "justify" why she doesnt see, feel or believe in love anymore, and is making excuses - "Mama never loved her much And daddy never keeps in touch " but deep down, wishes she believed in love, and wants it - wants that person to fill the void, and make her not feel like shes from "another place", like us all... | |

| Ohhh...this song means so much to me... It was the first time I ever paid attention to SG...it was 97, a turning point in my life...I even felt like a crush towards the singer back then, but it wasn't until 2001 when I purchased the album and enjoyed it fully, because I could finally understand the lyrics. This is another song that just transports you...its made to make you feel that you are in a journey...And of course I always felt different and I've been betrayed so much that it developed a deep feeling of disbelief within myself. That's why this song is so me...because I'm still waiting for that something/someone that changes that and make me believe again. My favourite lines: "She can't remember a time When she felt needed If love was red then she was colour-blind All her friends they've been tried for treason And crimes that were never defined..." Those last lines mean a lot to me...when my so-called friends hurt me in a way that I wouldn't expect from an enemy of mine. I hope I ever get the chance to sing it without weeping, and without that sense of loneliness that I feel today. | |

| To me it seems like a lot of distrust..(or maybe I'm applying it to my life..)And she's just waiting for someone to come along and show her it's alright...(Again I think that's more my life then the actual song..lol) But an awesome one by SG | |

| Beautiful. When you want to love again, but you can't bring yourself to break down those barriers. You just want someone to be there - the type of person who you can sit with in silence and feel like it was the best conversation you've ever had. They don't have to break down any barriers - the bricks just melt away. | |

| This song is great, but it's really sad too. The girl in the song seems to be isolated from the outside world, and she can't seem to find the world where she belongs. Amazing song!! | |

| All her friends they've been tried for treason And crimes that were never defined Means that she's already tried and sentenced her friends in her mind even though they may not really have done anything yet. She just can't trust them so she automatically finds them guilty. | |

| One of my few very good friends says that this song decribes me....and well i guess it does. With that in mind i think it's about a girl who's been torn apart by the world such as her parents and other influences, and that she's been hurt so much she just shys away from the world. And people just see her as a sadened creature who doesn't want to love...or can't...when all she wants is someone who needs her and can understand her the same way she can understand them.....i only say this because that is how my life is.... | |
