i think this song means that the people at the bar spend all their free time at the bar and the guy gets tired of seeing them all the time so he tellls everybody to leave. its also about the guy singing meeting a girl and he wants to go back home with her. its about death too (go back to the places you will be from) you came from nowhere and when you die you go nowhere. the song is about drunks love and death.

I think it's about graduating from Highschool, or College. Something like that. "Gather up your jackets, move it to the exits - I hope you have found a friend." It's like your finally leaving, and leaving your friends and stuff. And the last call for alcohol thing is like you can't be a kid anymore; partying and stuff with booze.

I think that this song is trying to compare closing time at a bar with what it feels like when your being born. It seems like a good comparison to me. Closing time at a bar, the lights come on, you have to try and squeeze out the door and I know I usually feel like crying. I should say, however, that I *am* a moron, so I could be wrong.

When this song first came out I remember the band talking about how it was a metaphor for graduation....the bar closing was like high school coming to an end. I'm not exactly sure what they said, but it had to do with graduation, and definitely not about pregnancy. But i guess thats the cool thing about poetry and lyrics, you can make them mean whatever you want.
