	The song was written because of a dream Daniel had. He met a man who was on his death bed in the hospital, and there was nothing the doctors could do for him. Daniel sang this song (Across the Night) to him and he was cured. When Daniel woke up he quickly wrote the song down. It is one of the few Silverchair songs that were written in one attempt.

	this song is beautifly written.. i love silverchair and i am their number one fan.. daneil is fucking talented as hell for writing how he does..and ben and chris are the greatest as well.. i love these guys

	I can see that Xmas thing, somehow. Just the joyful mornign feeling, I suppose. Epic. Undeniably sweeping. One of my favourites of theirs, just because it is something bordering on operatic. The line "I don't want to be lonely/I just want to be alone" ... so beautiful. The entire thing is.

	Well, in me that song also awakes a feeling like watching your boyfriend/girlfriend sleep. It's the atmoshpere, and if you see it from that point, the lyrics fit.
