silverchair - "Paint Pastel Princess" (Bass Tab)
>From the album "Neon Ballroom"

Transcribed by Kyle Caldwell and Benny Schmerr

Notes:
------
1. The song is downtuned, with a drop D - all the strings except the "E"
string are tuned
down a half-step (one fret), and the E is tuned down 1 and a half steps.
The "E" string
is then C sharp, the "A" string is then A flat etc...
2. Riff 1 may have some picking errors, as it it very hard to accurately
transcribe the
rhythm of one repeating note.
3. If you are not sure about any part of the song, the approximate timings
shown below
might help.
4. There are no guarantees that this tab is accurate - it is unofficial.
However, I personally
am very sure that this tab is nearly 100% accurate.

this is by far my favourite silverchair song, it is so close to home, i love it dearly its about being on anti-depressants. "bo and aropax" (aropax was the anti-d dan was on) play on words to - bo and arrow another play on words is And it's too tense, camp out (nonsense) two tents, camp out chris and ben used to camp allot and daniel wasnt into that, but i guess he felt left out. 'But it's all the same to me' i think the song is a story, and to its all the same to daniel because the anti-d's leveled it all out. no highs no lows - all the same

such a great song =) so sad tho..its about when u go on medcation everything feels the same..and its confussing a lot of his fears...daniel thinks that he sounds really nervous in the track but i can't tell..maybe its only because i'm a silly american and i can't tell the difference cuz of his accents (which i don't cringe but happen to find very cute =) )

This is probably one of the best Silverchairs songs. I wish they would have continued to make music because judging from the way this cd sparked a craze, they would have been huge. I love their lyrics and how passionate they were about the music. Listen and Feel.

I get the anti-depressant thing, but does anyone know what he means by paint pastel princess?, is it some girl, an ideal girl that never worked out, or a metaphor for an ideal life?

YES! thanku rubberduckie, i have found sum1 who feels the same. when you r put on anti-depressants it makes the level of happy hormones (serotonin) in ur brain constant. this means you can never be very depressed.....and u can never be very happy

this song is the most amazing one they've ever written to me...lyrically, astounding....vibrantly connected to my life. at first i didn't like it, but after i really listened to it and realized what it was saying...it described my life and me....and, yes i do agree with the other brit or aussie dude...americans focus too much on how big the artist/s are...if their music is incredible and influential, that's all that matters. yes...i'm american.
