My idea is that it's about a girl that really loves the writer, but the writer doesn't feel the same way. The girl is in love and planning all these things and she has all these strong feelings, but she doesn't make him feel the same way.

I agree with the rest who said-this is about a guy and a girl who never quite made it out in their relationship! Anyhow, this song is awesome! I LOVE THIS SONG! Man, you could really sing to it just to get your anger out. Damn...I really need to know where I can buy their CD...FYE...that store sucks now beause they wouldn't let me order an Elliott CD. Oh, well...

if its about god, and they were indeed a christian band then why would he be saying things like "you never made me happy?" or "i used to make the light shine for you" to god? shane and the rest of the guys may be christians but there music def does not portray any relligious messages.

I just (in the past fifteen minutes) lost my best friend/girlfriend in one fell swoop, and the first half of the song speaks to me like you wouldn't believe. Stuff used to be so good between us, but I fucked up, so she is done. If there is one thing that anyone and everyone that reads this learns today, learn to appreciate people and never take anything for granted, because as soon as you have, you've lost it.

i dont think its about satan.....i mean it could be b/c of "i know you've played out everything in your mind" but who says i love you to the devil? its probably about a girl but thats just my take

Ummm, one more thing. I don't think this song is about a girl, I think it might be about GOD...they are a Christian Band Hahaha. You suck at finding the meaning of songs. Why do you even come to this site? i used to make the light shine for you the sun has left my sky He made the light shine for God? you're giving up on me (giving up on me) God gave up on him? i've laid myself to sleep tonight i know you've played out everything in your mind God plays out all their shit in his head? lol and now you throw it all away a shattered memory that you would stay through thick and thin with me Haha God gave up on him and threw away the relationship they had? how can i say i love you back? you never made me happy That doesn't sound very Christian. This song is about a girl. Actually, I think this song is about Satan, because it makes perfect sense. Let EarlyNov back up that statement for me, because he/she is good at it.

When I first herd this song it gave me goosebumps. Like how can't it the lyrics are so deep. I think it's about an ex he was still attached to but had no hope for there relationship
