I agree these are some of the most vague lyrics I have ever heard. I have been a Sixpence fan for six years and I’m not sure I am any closer to deciphering this song. The only thing I have been able to gather is that this song is about longing in general. The subject wants get outside of his head and search for Angle tread, where God has left his fingerprints. I also think the verse about crickets singing could be an allusion to the scripture about creation groaning in labor pains to be made new. After six years this is all I have. Can someone help me out?

This song could mean so many things. That's the thing about poetry--it attempts to verbalize something that can't really be described. Searching. Searching for what? Well, maybe each listener can decide that for him/herself. Linc

Ye it definitely is a Christian song, Sixpence none the richer are a Christian band, lol I know what not being about to stay calm is like, something I think every Christian experiences at some point, fear of their faith collapsing or not being strong/passionate enough
