this cover up isn't so bad. it sounds nice. maybe it's the homophobia that a female voice is singing about another female. heh. OH WELL! sixpence none the richer have other good original songs.

This is a great song. I don't know what it's about but i heard the version before...the one with the male vocals and i like this one even better. It's just a great one to sing along to.

i'd like to petition for the cerimonial gnawing by psycho killer bunnies of sixpence none the richer. there are certain songs you do *not* cover: this is one of them. and it's a piss poor cover at that. grr.

Smug about knowing indie facts and posting them first? like there is some scholarly pursuit of indie facts, and the set way to interpret them? not to mention extra-credit for being the first to post it? Get a hobby. Myself,Ii didn't know this was a cover. That would explain the part about her blowing though. All the same, it's kind of fun when bands take a cover of a song, and spin it in another way or at least I dig it. For instance, boogie-man by KC and the Sunshine Band covered by Rob Zombie. The KC version is like "I'm your dancey guy!" the zombie version is like "I'm your closet monster guy!". The lyrics are the same, obviously, but Rob uses begining soundclips with prowess to communicate an alternative idea.

In the beginning when I first heard the song I didn't know it was a cover, so I thought it was about lesbians.

Could it be that Matt Slocum and Leigh Nash really didnt care if this song is about heroin or not? If everyone is free to interpret, isnt a cover band free to cover with their own slant on the meaning?

Glad to see most of the posts were: wondering how a "Christian Alternative" band would even want to cover a song about heroin use--was their faith in God strong enough to turn it into "just a lovely tune", never mind promoting drug use? God and I don't think so. Shortly thereafter, I kept hearing this song used in a commercial for a birth control pill, Ortho-Tricyclen Lo--now the use of a song about heroin becomes the background noise for selling birth control! What the heck were SNTR and God thinking???
