Why did you come to a Christian band's lyrics and talk about Jesus like that? Why don't you just go to some other band that has the same opinion as you. You are not wanted here so just leave.

I see this as someone who is abused, and the person who abuses them was someone they trusted and looked up to( "All i ever wanted to be was you") The person begins to fall apart and they blame it on the person abuseing them... *shrugs*

This songs reminded me of how my realtionship with my dad was for...years. I can just picture us shooting lines of the song back and forth at each other (kinda funny actually ;p) He would lose his temper alot. I'd try to stop caring about him so it wouldn't hurt so much. I'd shoot back, he'd be hurt too, and yell at me. Add this to the fact that I was such a Daddy's girl when I was younger...it wasn't fun. Also, 2 things for Rabster: "fuck Jesus. He isn't real" Wonderful opinion...Why in the world would you go to a message board for a CHRISTIAN band and then complain about religious beliefs. Next, why don't oyu go to a lake and complain that bteh water is too wet? "it's about a girl" WOW! Amazing insight! Yes, every song since the '50's is about a girl, isn't it? There can't be any other meaning to it, and why would artists ever want to travel into other areas that mean something to them?? "it's about a girl" very deep, and so well explained.

I think (this is my opinion) its about someone who thought of satan as jesus and fell for satans tricks and in the long rune he was left with pain and agony(open wounds)

yea this is a great song, this is about john and his dad i heard him talk about it during an interview with the radio station i listen to. he wasnt physically abused it was more of emotionally abuse from his dad. him and his dad didnt have a good relationship after the death of his mother and the remarriage didnt help any and he felt that he couldnt rely on his father or trust him anymore. Yes rabster Jesus is real and he will come back someday i pray that you come to know Him someday and you see the truth for what it is

Ok well first off Ninja9kun, i dont think we should just tell him to leave like that, like 'your not wanted her, so just leave' that doesn;t sound like a very christian thing to say.. maybe he is now thinking how hypricritical Christians are because of what you said. on to my interpretation of this song,.... well i heard that it was about the singer's dad and his relatoinship with him.

wow thats really cool, i never would have thought to look at it that way. in my opinion this song is about someone being more emotionally abused by someone else, and it leading to self-harm (my self-destruction is all your fault)

As its already been said...the song's about someone abusing someone in whichever way....most likely a parental thing (which I suppose is true since ppl say they heard an interview with John) and that leads into the abusee hurting themselves to block out the pain he's living in. He keeps asking himself how the parent can love him when all they do is fight and argue. Then asks how they can hate him when all he tried to be was good enough.
