this is personally one of my favorite songs by them- that last verse really means a lot to me 'and what did you expect ... a perfect child raised by tv sets ... abandoned every mile we never get respect ... never a fair trial no on egives a shit ... as long as we smile' yeah i can really relate to that...

The last line to this song really got to me. I love everything about this song and it just makes you think about how adults treat kids today and expect everything to be okay. We're always told that we are the future but what kind of future are they laying out for us if we are taught to fake everything.

by far one of my Smile Empty Soul songs. There are so many so-called "anthems" out there, but this fits us more than any other. For the older group of us we are the last of "Generation X", because lets be honest, in this little amount of time, things have changed. I mean, hell. These kids weren't raised with parents like in this song, we were, because of our surroundings. These kids are better off than we were, because we were the test rats, the guinea pigs for our parents, and if you have younger siblings you know what I am talking about. We were the ones made to smile not these kids now. They have reasons to smile, when we were around at their age times were harder, TV had less restrictions, and music was worse. I mean we grew up with Ren & Stimpy on nickalodeon and NWA all over the radio. I just feel that this song is directed to us, the last of Generation X, and the shit we have went through.
