| This song always makes me think that he was in a horrible relationship. A person he had once loved, and had faith in changed right before his eyes. When he says the lines: "I can tell as you turn, I smell the sulfur so clear And fire's a beautiful sound And the wings that you burn turn to ashes my dear And ashes just fall to the ground" I think that this pretty much sums up the entire vibe of the song. He once knew a person that was kind and loving. But, as their "matches turn to ashes" (or their relationship slowly dims) he realizes that they have been a phoney all the while. And as they "turn" into some one that thinks they are above us all. He can see their once angelic "wings" turning to ashes. And, he just wants them to realize that they too are only ashes, and just like the rest of us they will return to their true form.. | |

| I love "Incinerate whats left of this / And torch the part of me that's you" That's beautiful. For me, it means to let go of the past, a past relationship, because it's hurting too much. Whenever i hear this song, it's exciting because it's more rockier than the others | |

| I agree wiv these coments totally....i am not really into leaving through the window and I think they grew up a lot when they did North! I suppose it is because they will have experienced more in their lives! I really love this song and cannot believe that so few people have commented!!! It is a really good album that I love to listen to when I ma in a depressed mood and Only Ashes is a great song with lots of hidden meanings! A real winner! | |
