Here it is, the tab for one of my favorite basslines ever, it's the chorus of Soundgarden's
'Burden in my hand'. it uses a very unusual tuning, just like all the guitars in the song
like this ,
G->G (very unusual)
D->C
A->G
E->C
(for those interested in guitarchords, using this system (I found it in a book) the six
guitar strings would be E-G-G-C-G-C)
******* slide
G---------12--12-----------------10--10--10--10-8-8-8-8-3-3-3-3-3--
C-(slide)12--12--12-15-12-10---10--10--10----10-8-8-8-8-3-3-3-3-3--
G------------------------------------------------------------------
C------------------------------------------------------------------
G-10--0-6-5-5-5-5-5-5----
C-10--0-6-5-5-5-5-5-5----
G-------------------------
C------------------------- etc. etc.
* not sure about this
If somebody could use this and send me them chordz to this song, I'd be grateful
(please pass this tab on to many other archives , the song is copyright Soundgarden or
whatever, but the tab is MINE , just copy this entire document to other archives, with
my name thank you very much)

| Perhaps this song is about some well-known serial killer like OJ Simpson. It must be about homicide and "drowning in alcohol", like the song suggests. But then again, it's possible that this song has no hidden meaning, like kimdeal suggests. | |

| i think this song is about believing a person so much that u would take abuse from them and then deny to yourself that it happens, i think the first three lines dispay the faith in this person and how shit it turns out to be, and then they decide to drink away their problems'drown in alcohol' though cornell being in such a stable relationship i doubt it is about him or even specific drinking and abuse so much, it could be about fame or someother kind of fortune which turns out to be unworthy of the effort u put in so u pretend it was. it could all be about a state of denial | |

| I think that drink is a central theme. Why else would the song be set in the desert? Perhaps he thirsts more for drink than he does for his "love", and maybe he was afraid that he'd hurt her...on the other hand I also get the feeling that "my love" is a metaphore. It's likely that the song works on various levels. | |

| This song is about having a significant other (In this case a girlfriend) who is with you because of your social status (Cornell as a rockstar) and no matter what you do in her eyes you can do wrong. Shes a Burden in your Hand. I SHOT MY LOVE TODAY WOULD YOU CRY FOR ME *I shot you but you wouldn't be angry with me, you'd cry for the the punishment I'd have to endure (going to prison) I LOST MY HEAD AGAIN WOULD YOU LIE FOR ME *For example, he loses his head and beats her and when the cops get there she lies and doesn't blame him I LEFT HER IN THE SAND JUST A BURDEN IN MY HAND *She's shallow and superficial, she follows me around like I'm her master and she's a burden to me. I left her the sand, she means nothing to me. OH NO THERE SHE GOES OUT IN THE SUNSHINE THE SUN IS MINE *even when we aren't together she wants me to have dominion over her and thinks I'm always with her like the sunshine | |

| gish05 is right, this song is kinda strange if you pay attention to its upbeat musical force and then to such bleak lyrics. | |

| The war-themed analysis suggested by The Civilizer could be just the right one. After reading his post and taking a look at the lyrics, it all seemed clear. That maybe the right one. | |
