	Well to get a pretty good idea of what the song means, you should jus watch the video. In the video, different images are programmed into Chris....images of mother,father, me, etc. In my opinion the song's meaning is that no matter what you do...you will end up like a meaningless speck upon a screen...(towards the end u will see chris going up in a elevator as the camera zooms out). Great Song. Great Band. Audioslave suxs peace out

	Would you people please stop making Black Hole Sun references? Don't make that song any more over-hyped and over-played than it already is. It was a good song until every single alternative radio station across the US decided to play it every 5 minutes.

	Gran canción que quizá ha sido poco valorada. Lo digo en español porque este es mi idioma materno y no me interesa lo que piensen uds. los de habla inglesa. Háganse un favor bien grande y dense cuenta que en cierta forma están relacionadas canción y video-, por cual, es díficil interpretarlas por separado. En cuanto a la letra si bien es pesimista, ya que según Chris este mundo está lleno de rencor y falsa felicidad, nosotros mismos podemos explotar esa falaz realidad que nos entrega la televisión y la sociedad materialista-consumista . No sólo se trata de quejarse de los conceptos errados que entregan explícita e implícitamente los medios de comunicación (felicidad mediante el abuso del alcohol, drogas; sexo sin amor como búsqueda final del placer; racismo; violencia; abuso biotecnológico), sino que además como éstos mismos nos provocan en nuestro interior odio y caos con el resto del mundo, como nos aislan de nostros mismos. No obstante, en muchas entrevistas Chris Cornell declaró que a veces no ha querido expresar nada en concreto y que además no le importa cambiar el mundo ni nada por estilo, que sólo lo hace porque refleja en sí lo que siente y no necesariamnte lo que piensa; incluso muchas veces se le ha criticado por eso. Quizá la visión que tiene él del mundo no sea la más esperanzadora, pero creo que sus letras son sinceras, y pese a que aparenta no importarle el mundo yo creo que si le interesa, pues nunca hubiese escrito una canción como esta. Uno de los problemas graves hoy en día somos nosotros mismos y lo que pensamos y creemos. En realidad, si todos pudiesemos entender en sí la vida y no como nos imponen no habría tanto caos y confusión. Mientras más sabemos del mundo exterior menos sabemos que pasa en nuestro interior. El conocimiento es una arma de doble filo, es manipulado ocasionando daño a quienes se les considera "ignorantes e inferiores". Pude haberlo escrito en inglés, mas no lo quise. Espero que este ensayo humilde sea de ayuda.

This is not what this song is about. its about standing in a long ass line at the 9 items or less cashier counter and you have one measly little item to buy while everybody else is 3 or 4 items over the limit. Duh! anybody could see that. BTW, audioslave endlessly kicks nameless asses all day baby! Yea! Vacuums suck.
