feelings of not wanting to conform to the world, wanting to get away from it all, longing for change... seems pretty straightforward to me. i love this song.

I love this song. It reminds me of Pink Floyd for some reason.

This is such a great song - cornells vocals express such emotion in this song - almost hopfullness , the distorted words at the start - are actually a radio station playeded throught a guitar pedal or sumthing like that.. i love the eeriee feel of this song

Soundgarden is (was) truly one of the best bands ever to record music. Cornell has a great voice. I feel this song is expressing a feeling of being captive to life and it's norms (or rules). 'there must be something else... something good'. Indeed.

Uh, it seems like a lot was left off from those lyrics. "There must be something else There must be something good Far away Far away from here But I'll be here for good" Is what I got out of the ending. Anyway, amazing song. So eerie and beautiful...

i agree that this song is about conformity. its such a great song to end soundgarden's final album, as it really seems to conclude the way chris feels about society. a lot of his other songs seemed to be about his general dislike for what our society has become (i'm thinking of songs like blow up the outside world, limo wreck, black hole sun here, etc...) i guess he really just wanted to get away from life here in america where everyone is pretty much a clone and where anyone who is different isn't accepted. he certainly seems happier living in france now... i think this song, more than any other soundgarden song, shows the direction chris wanted to go with his music. i really could picture this song on his euphoria morning album. and i realllllly wish this song were longer, but it does sound really cool when on repeat

Can anyone identify the soundbite running in the left channel at the song's beginning?

Easily one of Soundgarden's best songs...clearly underrated.
