Song: BIG BOTTOM
Artist: SPINAL TAP
Album: "BLACK" ALBUM (THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK TO THE MOVIE SPINAL TAP)
--------------------

Transcribed by Emil Ortenmark, kfemil@telia.com

Standard tuning

Comments: This was recently posted on the BTA by Steve Porsche
but his version only listed the first riff that the bass plays.
This is the real deal. This track appeared on their self-titled
"black" album and is played by, hold on to your hats, three
basses. That´s right, three. One is heavily effected, probably
some type of bass syntheziser while the other two are "clean".
I´ve arranged this barrage of bass here for one bass as it is
easily played that way. I do recommend a pick though. This is,
beside being a cool song, a good left hand exercise. It will
build stamina holding down those chords in the chorus.

Key:
/ = slide up
= slide down
b = bend (whole step)
b^ = bend (1/2 step)
b^^ = bend (1 1/2 steps)
pb = pre-bend
r = release-bend
t = tap with righthand finger
h = hammer-on
p = pull-off
~ = Vibrato
* = Natural Harmonic
#(#) = Trill
x = Dead notes (no pitch)
P.M. = Palm mute (- -> underneath indicates which notes)
Tp = Tap wplectrum

I think "Almighty" reads a little to into things. It's fucking Spinal Tap. It's about fucking big girls. No hidden meanings. Not ever song has to have some deep and powerful meaning. Some shit is just for fun.

Yeah that is embarrasing. This song makes fun of so many rock acts of the 70s. Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls" as mentioned above. And the subject of using sexual metophors in lyrics like Robert Plant used to do with Led Zep. But one very orginal approach is having the 3 overlapped basses which sounds a lot better than you'd think it would. Although this song is supposed to be a joke, I think the lyrics are pretty fuckin' brilliant. My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo. I love to sink her with my pink torpedo. Love that line. Spinal Tap was a great ficticious band.
