	Dammit people, the falshing lights and sound are the ambulance, its the siren and lights of the ambulance. Metaphor, he is using a tragic near death tail as a metaphor for dying inside, or feeling dead becasue you've let down the ones who love you. I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with the music industry or with him questioning the validity of being a singer of a band "i'm sick of always talking when there's no change i'm sick of empty words, let's lead and not follow" -It's about the world being a crappy place because people are fuck-ups, and he's making the desicion to own up to his shortcomings, in the hopes that others will follow. I know its all open to interpretation, but I'm almost positive that the potential of dying is a metaphorical one, I don't think hes sad because no one would miss him if he died On a side note, I'm an EMT and I think its awesome that this song gives credit to people in that line of work because it is often a thankless job
