This song is about life and death. when you're born the first thing you're supposed to feel is the doctor's fingertips or something like that.

Fast fact: Sometimes when Linnell sings the 'heart attack' line live, he pretends as if he really is having a heart attack.

I think that this song is about the stages of life from beginning to end. 'Everything is catching on fire' - the chaos of birth 'Fingertips' - the doctor's figertips, as some others have said. 'I hear the wind blow' - learning about the earth 'Hey now everybody now' - learning to talk 'I found a new friend underneath my pillow' - having trouble making friends 'Come on and wreck my car' - irresponsibility 'Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?' - dealing with bullies and being defenseless 'Please pass the milk, please' - being dependant on others 'Leave me alone, leave me alone' - teenager 'Who's knocking on the wall?' - living in an apartment 'All alone all alone' - single 'What's that blue thing doing here?' - ??? 'I didn't know what had my hand/But that's when all my troubles began' - Being controlled in a bad job 'I don't understand you' - trouble in relationships 'I heard a sound' - getting worried about life 'Mysterious whisper' - a real relationship 'The day that love came to play' - self-explanatory... 'I'm having a heart attack' - also self-explanatory 'Fingertips' - mortician's fingertips 'I walk along darkened corridors' - the afterlife?

Actually this was not meant to be a whole song. The listener was meant to put the cd player on random when listening to apollo 18. This way each of these snippets would wind up in random places between songes to give a flipping through the radio stations effect.

I've always kind of thought these were just ideas for songs that didn't make it. Don't know where I got that idea though.

My friend seemed to think that each 'song' was about a different musician, like 'I Don't Understand You' being Bob Dylan, etc.
