ok, there are two main riffs, the chorus riff, and the verse riff.
listen to the song to work out where they go.
the song starts halfway through the chorus riff, so i’ll put that down as the intro.
i also included the changes made by myself and metallica.
i’ll write this down the way i play it. i think the original is just the
basic notes(the same as the chords).
the verse riff2 and chorus riff2 are played at the end of the guitar solo.

the archives for Thin Lizzy aint complete yet!! also, the chorus is after the section of this song where he robs the good Captain, its like verse, chorus, verse, chorus. It does not lead on straight to the 2nd verse, jsut to stress my point here.

Thanks Captain Feral! Best analysis on here. But saying screw England? That's a bit harsh. :( And sandonhelm, I disagree. It takes the piss that Metalica did a version of this! I hate it. Thin Lizzy's version rocks.

There's also a version of this song by Belle & Sebastian that's just come out which *gasp* I prefer to both of these other ones! I guess I'm just more of a fan of the acoustic sound and Stuart Murdoch's vocals. It's somehow much sadder and more beautiful when they do it, which I think works really well with the lyrics and the overwhelming feeling of the song. I don't know. Probably no-one else would agree...
