i really dont think this is a song about alcohol since there is a reference to "god of wine" also known as Dionysus or Bacchus for the Romans. The God of Wine is known in greek mythology as the complete opposite of Apollo. He is mischievious and rotten. I think that is what the song is about how the situation is rotten. But im no genius like S.J.

the god of wine comes crashing through the headlights of a car...everytime i hear that line i think of everyone ive lost to drunk drivers, or their own drunk driving stupidity and then. well i could quote the whole fucking song. it reminds me of me, in the past, about how alcohol can slowly strip your life down to absolutely nothing. its like a crazy downward spiral, until even those you drank with arent around anymore. its a good song about the real consequences, mostly emotional, some physical, of substance abuse

Lemme say this: "There's someone who understands you more than I do A sadness I can't erase all alone on your face" That's the God of Wine saying "the answers are not in a bottle." Live with that.

I really don't like third eye blind at all, but someone clued me into this song and I gave it a try. I was blown away. This is so much better than the pop rock crap that you hear from them most of the time. This song has probably the best lyrics I have ever hear. Especially this verse And there's a memory of a window Looking through, I see you Searching for something that I could never give you And there's someone who understands you, more than I do A sadness I can't erase All alone on your face. That is just awesome songwriting. Probably the best lyric I have ever heard. Very deep. When I listen to it I can see myself looking through memory and going through the window and into the person and feeling the confusion and helplessness. When I listen to these songs and see people's replies about how this always happens to them too, I am filled with a great sadness that we are so apt to hurt each other. I don't understand why we all can't just meet and love each other like we want. It seems as if the person who does love is always the one who gets hurt and so we continue the cycle of pain.

The "memory of a window" part is my favorite lines from any song ever, I love this song. It is my all time favorite 3eb song. They are the greatest band of all time. This song is very sad, it makes me cry almost everytime I hear it. I understand how hard it can be to leave someone you love, even if you know staying could be the end for you too. This song is a real representation of how love can kick you in the ass, and even though you know its hurting you its too hard to let go. Stephan really says it all with the "a sadness I cant erase, all alone on your face" statement. This is such a wonderful song.

And the siren's song that is your madness Holds a truth I can't erase All alone on your face...that is the best line. That line basically sums up my last relationship. He was so bent on destroying himself. Not through drugs, but he was destroying himself. He was a endless sea of doubt. It was horrible. Finally everything broke down, and he realized everything that was wrong. I tried so hard for so long to be there for him and to fix things, but it completely drained me. It was horrible. So I guess I can also relate to the line, "can we get clean again?" However our relationship ended with the line, "That took you farther than you thought You'd ever wanna go We can't get back again We can't get back again." Stephen writes beautiful lyrics...

Right now, a little birdy told me that it would probably be late July early August, which sucks so much, it just gets further and further away, but at least we have a title now. I hope All Right Caroline is on it. Thats all i have to say except yes, they are Godly.

Halo, very good and brief...But I think you can apply it to and relationship where the other person is bent on destroying themself...The hopelessness and how eventually you have to give up so you don't get messed up yourself...

What an amazing song. I love 3eb and this song is by far their best song to me. I think that a lot of people can relate to this song because everyone has lost someone and felt like they couldn't hold themselves together. Alcohol does some seriously messed up crap to those who abuses it, but this song shows how it effects everyone around them, not just the abuser. My favorite lines are: "Every thought that I repent There's another chip you haven't spent And you're cashing them all in, Where do we begin to get clean again" AND "And there's a memory of a window Looking through, I see you Searching for something that I could never give you" Love it!!
