| I agree with that it is like the Great Gatsby, but at the same time.. the first time I heard this, I was reading Great Gatsby for English. Like I mean literally, the same like hour.. soo it just was like' hm wow' .. but I mean, I don't know. I think it is about Gatsby & Daisy, if anyone..because at the end when Gatsby is telling Tom that Daisy wants to leave Tom, Daisy sort of decides she'd rather stay with Tom.. so I think that's "I kind of get the feeling like I'm being used". Also, I think the "Convinced you've found your place With the pierced queer teens in cyberspace When you were yourself it tasted sweet But it sours into a routine deceit" could sort of go with how Gatsby thinks Daisy has changed since he saw her 5 years before. I mean Daisy is trying so hard to fit in with the "rich life" that she's changing herself saying she wants her daughter to be a "beautiful fool" and all that. I don't know, that's how I see it.. | |

| How is there discussion about this? The song is fairly self-explanatory, as are most of Third Eye Blind's songs. I love them, but only a select few are actually debatable. | |

| Has anyone else noticed the allusions to The Great Gatsby? This song reminds me of the relationship between Nic Carraway and Jordan Baker. | |

| Now that u mentiooned the Great Gatsby...i see it - but it reminds me more of Gatsby and Daisy...in the book Gatsby also makes a reference to Nick saying"her voice sounds like money" about Daisy... When they talk about a life of sin - remember Daisy hits Myrtle with the car? And runs off... theres a lot of references about Gatsby in this ....gtg tho later! | |

| WHOA.... Yeah I kind of find it strange that so many people went off on how this song reminds them of the Great Gatsby! You can think what you like, but I really don't agree. i think it was just about a year relationship that just kinda simmered off and the girl was a rich girl who had issues and then decided she wanted to do more with her life. In turn, he felt used- " We used to spend the whole goddamned day in bed"> and now its not that way because things have changed and the original excitment is over for her. I have been listenign to this song sooo much recently, and its always in my head. I can't help but relate to it when thinking of the relationship I'm in right now. "It always seems the juice used to flow In the car, in the kitchem you were good to go Now we're stuck with the tube A sink full of dishes and some aqua Lube"> I believe this is sexual in ways- as in the juice used to flow and how the girl used to be 'good to go' and have sex...but now they are stuck with routine boredum and aque lube- meaning they need the lubricant to have sex as in its more forced. All in all the lyrics to this song are awesome and the emotion put into it is in incredible! | |

| i really don't think this song has anything to do with the great gatsby, you could just as well compare the book to a million other relationship songs. nonetheless, great song and great book. | |

| I think that this song is about a guy who dates a girl whose parents are divorced, and as a result of the divorce, the girl can't fall in love. "But your daddy left you with no love" The guy in the song feels foolish for wasting a whole year on a girl who can't love him back. He realizes that her actions at the beginning of the relationship weren' sincere, and now she's shown her true colours. Its a pretty sad song. | |
