| I don't suppose anybody knows about the book called "The Subtle Knife" by Philip Pullman. It's a good read, although I don't know if it has anything to do with this song, but it's been a long time since I've read it. | |

| Yeah i'd go for the whole ignorance thing as well, but ignorant toward what? probably just to the world or something. "the sunbtle dagger" is the reference to what happens if you are ignorant. i think anyway. the lyrics to this are fuckin awesome anyway. | |

| I highly doubt that this song is about the goverment. Thrice is more deeper than rebellion. | |

| it's all about ignorance; or more specifically the idea of unknown ignorance. rather than trying to shut out answers and reaizations, it's more about thinking you know the reasonings ad the solutions when you know little. basically, looking for the explanation that you want to be real; fooling yourself in order to be fulfilled to your own content- superficial enlightenment. | |

| I hope this is about Macbeth. An appreciation of Shakespeare would make Thrice so much cooler than they are. | |

| Evolution does not deny God's existance in anyway. Saviorcomplex...I totally agree that society taints people, and I can definetly see how you are getting that from the song however, I think it has more to do with sin and what we do to ourselves, even if part of that is a result of the external world. I think there is a difference between government bashing (or being anti-government) and criticizing the government. I think the true patriots are the ones who criticize the government for its faults rather then those who simply say, "I Love America, its the greatest country on earth!!" and ignore everything that is wrong. Although Governments may have the tools of proganda to affect your thinking they can never have total control of our minds, much less our souls, if this were true, totalitarian governments would have been much more successful in the past, and despite the amount of propaganda that exists in the United States, we have access to so much more information then most countries and most propaganda is from competing interest groups and the media so we get many perspectives as opposed to one in many countries. Anyways, this may sound stupid but I think ones soul can only be touched through love. | |
