Band: Thrice
Song: All That's Left
Album: The Artist in the Ambulance
Tuning: Drop D
Tabbed by: the99thaisle
Even though Thrice tune their guitars and basses down, if (like me) you
like playing songs by lots of different bands, then tuning down all four
strings can be a pain because you have to tune them all back up to play
songs by other bands. So to eliminate the headaches of constantly tuning
up and down, I present the song in drop D tuning, so you only have to
tune the E string down, which is more easily tuned back up by ear.
Note: In the verses, you can substitute the A(10), A(8) and A(6) with
low D(5), low D(3), and low D(1) respectively, which means you won’t have
to slide your fretting hand as much as the way I’ve transcribed it.
However, playing on the low D string will give those notes a tinny tone.
Tinny = bad.
Also note: This is the whole song, completely tabbed. I prefer tabs that
are written out fully, because a lot of tabbers say, "Just put a fill in
here, or do whatever you want." If you wanted to improvise you wouldn't
be reading a tab. So I always tab out the whole thing. Yeah, it's
redundant, but there's no guesswork.
Intro: just guitar and drums

| It seems to me that if you take each thrice album in view of christian faith, that identity chrisis professes a strong belief (ultra blue), illusion of safety confesses an inner conflict with christian faith and it's hypocrisy (betrayal is a symptom) and now this song seems to display a complete loss of faith and the discovery of an absence of devine presence. The fact that god is thanked profusely on their first two albums for giving them the unique chance to express themselves speaks to the notion that they do in fact write songs, occasionally, about god and christianity. Or maybe I'm an idiot. | |

| To me I think that he may have written the song as if he were looking through someone elses eyes and asking questions. Especially the last verse when he says "we are the ones who lost our faith we dug ourselves an early grave we are the dead, can we be saved?" To me it seems as if you were to be sinning and sinning like crazy will God ever forgive you? Can you still be saved even though you have done so much bad? I do very much agree with you on the fact that identity crisis was far more blunt with the lyrics in the songs such as the song Idenity Crisis which to me sounds like the way dustin gave his life to Christ. I especially like the line "This is my voice all shadows stayed, this is my heart upon the alter laid" and "I’ll walk into the flame, a calculated risk to further bless your name" I believe that at that very moment he gave that prayer to God and started a new life. I belioeve that on The illusion of Safety he spoke more metaphorically about religion in order to try and embrace a wider audience opf listeners and get his message heard by more than just believers. So strike me deep and true, and in your strength I will live and die both unto you. I gotta go now but I will write more in a few days after I listen to this song some more. | |

| i hate this song by thrice....i can't believe that they started playing this one on the radio first. They should have started out with some older stuff like Torch to end all Torches, T&C, To What End, or Identity Crisis, those are all great songs. I have been listening to Thrice for about a year now and (in my opinion) this song doesnt compare to their older stuff. | |

| I think this song is about the moral disintegration of our culture. Plain and simple. The line "we are the dead" might be a reference to 1984...its the first thing i thought of. Dustin is a genius. XXX | |
