I saw these guys at warped tour and they kick major ass! But I got there late so I only catch this song. And it was amazing! Thrice has a new influece to me and my band now. But we're not try to copy anybody just that they make us wanna write a bad ass song and good melody. I get to see them again in November. Whoo hoo!!! If anybody cares check out my band at simpletonpunk.com and email me. Let me know how you like it. Later support your local music and scene, A's week this week.

I think this song is about how political correctness kills reason... "This violence in the name of love" The violence being that society takes things and twists them... tending to kill reason just for the sake of being politcally correct (love). Killing Aristotle would be that reason killed Aristotle's theories... and I don't remember who had exactly misproven Aristotle's theories (I think it was Galileo... I am not quite sure) but because the church did not like the idea (because Aristotle was loved by the church because he left room in the universe for the heavens, and the church was the major politcal power at the time) they persecuted him, in the name of love for chritianity and the souls who dwelled within the church. "The soil was swift to drink her blood" because the media, and mostly liberitarians will take reason and twist it into something it is not, killing her... The funeral would be the actions people take to eliminate reasoning... for example... one great eulogy for reasoning, is that recently, a woman wants to have a teacher fired because he taught the definition of the word "Niggerdly" which means stingey... it is used in many literary pieces and the definition (though derogatory) is a necessary word to know... it is used in such pieces as Hamlet and The Lord of the Rings books... That is what I think they mean... Although I think that a lot of you may disagree with me... but that is okay... we all have our opinions and analyzations I guess... *Smile*

i think this song is about how people who are loved never really die. "so friend u must still walk among us, in places we dont dare to glance." our friends and family will always be in our hearts

i could be completely wrong but well here goes... to understand it, the song is probably about a generalization, but lets apply it to a set context putting this song into context of september 11th: old friend they told me you were dead the news broadcast the funeral that day our innocence and sense of invincibility was lost and we lost many whom we loved, it was all over the news your love was ravished drawn and quartered the soil was swift to drink her blood this violence in the name of love the love we felt for the victims was turned to hate against those who had carried out the act and thus was ravished from pure love to hatred. When we bombed Afghanistan which had nothing to do with the attack, albeit a horrible government with economic ties to terrorists, we turned this love into violence against people who had as little to do with the attack as those in our country but i still feel you despite your tombstone but i still feel you despite your tombstone but we still remember the innocence we lost and the loved ones who perished and how once we had love instead of hate so friend you must still walk among us in places we don’t dare to glance i saw you killing Aristotle i know its all part of the plan so now their memories stay with us, a seat of love which has turned to ahte which we do not wish to glance at. This hate killed aristotle, destroyed logic, all part of the diabolical scheme of hate to pit humans against other humans this violence, this violence, this violence in the name of love TO….AWAKE….AND …. AVENGE THE DEAD! TO….AWAKE….AND …. AVENGE THE DEAD! and this violence which tarnished that love was all to avenge the dead well maybe im wrong but ive tried to make sense of this song and that so far makes the most sense to me someone tell me to shut up if im way off

yah makes sense... killing aristotle, who is like the historical manifestation of traditional reasoning... but is it about how during war we abandon reason... cuz it talks about violence in the name of love... i dunno ive always been trying to make sense of this song thanks for checkin it out tho
