I know I am posting my last message but this one has better spelling-I hope. Holy…something that isn’t, this song is great. The song to me state we are not what you say we are; we are what we discover to be ourselves (if that made any sense). And that the Ideal that we fallow will save us form destruction and death. This Ideal name is G-d to some, including myself, but it may be not because G-d has and is presented as a bully and tyrant by a lot of factions *cough fundamentalists cough*. You are special and know to the Devine and no mater what evil, conformative factions fight for your soul, you can be saved by rejecting the darkness around you and embracing the light within. by the way, I agree with darkzeph in that fact that this song does not necessarily have a christen meaning to some people, but my personal opinion is that it does

Well, I think people are looking more into the references than the actual meaning of the song. Since when are Christians the "cull" in a situation?

well darkzeph, the song says 'we are named and that we are known' so obviously he is referring to a specific genre of people. to me that is christians bcus the world knows who christians are. now if you could tell who specifically u think which group he is talking about that would be great. and there is obviously an opposing party 'though the world may hate us' and im assuming thats every one bar christians. and also on the fact on thrice not being a christian band i think that is true. bcus the lable as a christian band is very confined and i saw an interview that thrice had once and dustin said 'if a christian artist paints a picture it doesnt mean that the picture he paints has to be christian'. but yeah watever dude im not opposing u jus challenging. and also this isnt the first time dustin has used bible references read deadbolt lyrics and look up proverbs 9, specifically 9:17 but that whole song is a reference to that chapter.

we're more than carbon and chemicals we are the image of the invisible free will is ours and we can't let go we are the image of the invisible we can't allow this, the quiet cull we are the image of the invisible so we sing out this, our canticle we are the image of the invisible we all were lost now we are found no one can stop us or slow us down we are all named and we are all known we know that we'll never walk alone we're more than static and dial tone we are the image of the invisible we're emblematic of the unknown we are the image of the invisible raise up the banner, bend back your bows we are the image of the invisible remove the cancer, take back your souls we are the image of the invisible we all were lost now we are found no one can stop us or slow us down we are all named and we are all known we know that we'll never walk alone though all the world may hate us, we are named though shadow overtake us, we are known we're more than carbon and chemicals we can't allow this, the quiet cull we are the image of the invisible we can't allow this, the quiet cull we are the image of the invisible we are the image of the invisible we are the image of the invisible we all were lost now we are found no one can stop us or slow us down we are all named and we are all known we know that we'll never walk alone we all were lost now we are found no one can stop us or slow us down we are all named and we are all known we know that we'll never walk alone raise up the banner, bend back your bows remove the cancer, take back your souls Not sure about the bracketed parts This is how they sing it live

I dunno DarkZeph. I know its your opinion and all that good stuff but the title of the song is taken directly out of the bible and dictionary.com says canticle has a lot more to do with the bible than JUST a song or chant. Yes, Thrice is not a Christian band but Dustin is...at least im pretty sure. And thats clearly evident from other songs hes written.

You know what, this song is a good song. Ive only heard tihs one song off the cd. But judging by this, it seems thrice has thrown away a bit of there tech side. I hope the rest of the cd has their tech sound oin it. Dont get me wrong, this song is sick. But I liked the sick leads, and harmonizing a little more. But good song, catchy, and well written.

Once again, my opinion. "Thought the world may hate us, we are named" Although everyone else hates us and likes to classify us, we have actual names. You know how some people are like 'I hate nerds' etc? It's another way of saying we are people, not just carbon & chemicals nor are we just another nerd. We are people and we stand up together against those who reject us. "Though shadow overtake us, we are known" Refers to no matter how much more there are of the other people who think they are better, we are still existent and everyone knows it. Any other questions on my opinion? Makes sense to me, and strikes me as a little less conceited.
