Actually chihuahua is completly correct. I read that interview too. He is talking about his friend. and the dreeam of running up to the atic, trying to stop it. The line"its blood and its running down the stairs" is referring to his dream. This friend was a close friend, who got shot accedently well playing with a shot gun. And geoff jsut regrets the whole fight, and how it was a complete waste, and he will regret it for the rest of his life. Quite an ordeal for a 15 year old to go through.

ACTUALLY.. geoff made it all clear in an interview.. This song is when he got in a fist fight with one of his friends.. then he went on vacation before they made up.. while he was on vacation his friend and another kid were playing with a gun and it went off and killed the kid he got in the fist fight with. They used to play in the kid's attic and geoff said that for years he would have dreams of him running downstairs(steps ascending) from the attic and trying to save his friend.

this is pretty long but..... Wow, i had just listened to this song today and then decided to look it up on songmeanings, i found out the meaning of a guy dying by gunshot wound, and then after i closed out of the page, i get a call from my mom telling me that this dude i knew from church, (like one of the koolest dudes ever he was early 30s and drove a black H2 and always wore like AF type stuff) was cleaning out his guns and was found dead by his little 7th grade son ( i later found out that it was his wife who found him and that she stopped the son from walking in the room)... then the last the part of this song came to my mind like "OH MY...." it just seriously shocked me that i had just heard a song about the same instance and then moments later recieved a call that it had similarly happened to someone i knew... i guess ive been taking life for granted latley, last week the beginning of war all the time hit home when a friend i knew was jumping off of a cliff w/ his friends at the river when he got a cramp and the river took him away and he drowned....this cd is strangley erie in that it has literally predicted some tradgedies in my life recently I dont mean to offend anyone so if christian things do than just ignore/dont read this "opinion" of mine but God has a plan for all of this whether i can see it right now or not..ive just gotta have faith...

omg this song is so beautiful... my favorite part by far is towards the middle-end of the song where everything stops and it's a quiet little tune and then he sings really softly... it sounds something like this: "here i... go... to him here i... go... to him airily???" does anyone know what he says? it keeps repeating in the background when the chorus joins in almost all the way to the end of the song.

This is gonna be a long one.... this song holds deep meaning for me. i can relate EXACTLY to what geoff is saying. Here is the story I had this really good friend back when i was like seventeen. He was fifteen. Nick was fifteen. We were cool with eachother most of the time, until he decided he wanted to not be my friend anymore. I kept trying and trying to get back in the good with him. I went to a Primer 55 concert in Louisville and Nick was there. In the pit he ended up jumping me from behind and getting kicked out of the show before primer 55 even took the stage. We ended up physically fighting outside of the venue and after that we never talked again. For the longest time, i wanted to make things better because we had done some cool shit together and been through some pretty bad patches of life. I went to his house one day to try and bury the hatchet so to speak, only to see an ambulance and Nicks mom crying in the arms of her mother. My friend Nick hung himself from a ceiling fan with a bungee cord. No one was home at the time and i wonder to myself if i had only came over earlier i might have been able to stop him. When i faund out, i dropped to my knees and cried like a little baby. I will never forget that day, i still dream about him and the ambulance with no sirens taking him away. I left a pack of ciggarettes and a big fat joint in his casket. He is buried over 100 miles away and to this day i havent seen his grave since the funeral. IF YOU AND YOUR FRIEND ARE FIGHTING OVER SOME STUPID RETARED BULLSHIT, BE THE BETTER PERSON AND MAKE THINGS BETTER BEFORE THAT PERSON IS GONE FOREVER....

Heh sorry to correct alot, but: A LIT ONE flickers out in a heartbeat. Theres no room left to make amends BUT Will burn in the fire OF our regrets. all the time we've wasted... (theres an extra all the time in there) A spinning bullet HANGS in the middle As it turned and it turned down the street, one more turn wont you come back to me? Anyways... definitely my favourite song from war all the time, and poetics right, but it can still have lots of other implications to different people. Fight with a lover, fleeting life to greg, etc.
