this song is so true with what has happened to the natives of america over the years and yet a lot of americans will not understand its true meaning

Does anyone know the title of the poem this song was taken from? That is if it was, in fact , taken from a poem.

i read the poem and there is one similarity but its not exact. i still think there great lyricist. the only part that is similar is:"We have burned their villages and all the people in them died We adopt their customs and everything they say we steal". and the poem says:"Write this. We have burned all the villages and the people in them Write this. We have adopted their customs and their manner of dress" so i guess thats a lot a like but maybe it was a coinsidence(sp?). eh oh well. just thought id write that out.

thursday has caught the soul of America. It is ugly and sad. very sad. they are fucking brave for saying the truth. they know its the truth, we know it is, and so does everysingle one of us, but were all just too afraid to say it. You can't escape who you are and this nation is a murderer.

To me this song is talking about the ruthlessness of Western imperialism and how the government can just cover up the scars, and the country won't know the difference.

we are slowly destroying what is so true to our country? what was originally here... will be no more... who knows maybe we will destroy our country until we need artificial water... heh just a thought. Great song.

I agree with emojay. I think that this song is written about how our nation is not rightfully ours. It was stolen from native americans through force and murder. The part about losing their images and dances and replacing them with borders make me think that they are talking about taking away the indians lands and putting them in reservations.

i don't hate america though. i just hate that it thinks it has the it has the right to whatever land and resources it wants. There is a native American syaing that "we do not inheret the earth, we only take care of it for our children".
