Its love where one person takes the other for granted, and the guy is pissed off. I need to know what the lyrics of the final chorus are: I don't know when I got bitter But love is surely better when it's gone 'Cause You Wanted More More Than I could Give More than I could handle In a life that I can't live You wanted more More than I could bear More than I could offer For a love that isn't there If only you would ???? (3:25) ?????????? those final two lines arent written above!

I think its about how he was in a relationship and the girl he was with wanted more love than he could give. And once their relationship was over he was bitter and so he would have been better off in the first place with no love at all. But he also talks about how love felt to him. Thats just my opinion...

Excellent song. If you could define love, which you can't, it's doing a decent job ^_^

It seems to me that he isn't ready for the degree of commitment the girl wants. She just asking too much of him, and he isn't ready.

He is talking about how great love is and how amazing it can be but at the same time he is trying to explain how he does not love this girl. She wanted all these things from him and for him to change. We can't change who we are. This is probably one of the best songs I have heard in a long time.

What does this song mean to me? When I heard this song, I instantly thought about this relationship between a guy and a girl...the thing is, their best friends, the girl wants more out of the relationship and loves the guy to death, but the guy is homosexual. There are a few lines where this can be applied: "Love" for him, consists of color being "loud," "Love is never saying that you're too proud, Love is trusting, Love is honest," all things that would not be if they were to pursue a sexual relationship. The girl asked "More Than (he) could Give," More than (he) could handle, In a life that I can't live (meaning, a life based on lies). "More than I could bear," meaning it would be hell for him if he were to pursue it, that it is so difficult as it is. Since he is gay, asking him for more than friendship is "More than I could offer, For a love that isn't there." This is my interpretation of the song folks, for more own point of view. Thanks!

Beautiful description of Love. A man tries to give all he can...but in his human condition there is only so much he can give...and only so much he can take. Why does he choose to deprive himslef of such Love? answ: Because this love is More than he can handle...and demands a Life he cant Live! It's much more than he can bear and offer. This condition leads to frustation and resentment as it reinforces the notion that Love is not a hand to hold you down. As a result he admits: "I don't know when I got bitter." He understands that gradually it will lead to his downfall...accordingly, he states: "love is surely better when its gone" I agree with Katydid: "Excellent song. If you could define love, which you can't, it's doing a decent job ^_^ "
