It's not necessarily the right way to play it, it has a few add-ins, a slide here, an extra
note there, but it makes it sound really cool.

Standard Tuning.

Chorus

There you go, it probably sounds better played with a felt pick, or if you can, finger
picked. It's not 100% the way the bassist in Tonic Plays it, but it IS close, and I think
it sounds just as good. The notes are correct at least, and I tried to put in accurate timing.
Enjoy!

I wish more people would comment on this! I really don't understand this song. I love it, but I don't understand it. So, somebody who knows what they're talkin' about, please enlighten me! Thanks!

I love this song. But on the meaning of the song, I agree with Charisse. I can't wait until I can get my band to cover this, but if I'm doing the vocals I think I'll change the "she" 's to "he" 's.

im not sure but here's my two cents There's this girl that's afraid to give all her love because she's probably been hurt after giving all her love into a single relationship.. this explains the following lines... " Seems the road less traveled Show's happiness unraveled And you got to take a little dirt To keep what you love That's what you gotta do " And I think he feels bad about how he feels about the girl, because if you could only see the kind of love she gives. it doesn't really look worth it...

One of my favorite songs of all time. To me, it's about a guy that is in love with a girl, and his friends either don't understand how much he cares for her, or they don't like the fact that he does. It's so easy to relate to, which makes it that much better.

I have no idea what was his real intention when he wrote this song, but the scenario that always pops into MY mind when I hear it is this: A guy who already has a girlfriend whom he loves very much is explaining to another girl (who's trying to break them up so she can take a crack at him herself) why he would never break up with the girl he loves. It's like, yeah, you say you love me, but you don't. You don't love me like she does. Well, that's just how I see it...could be very wrong but whatever...

he wrote this song to his mother about a girl who he was in love with and planned to marry but she didn't approve, hence "if you could only see the way she loves me maybe you would understand"
