personally i think that this song is about people who try and feed off of tools success and just jump on the bandwagon just because they're getting popular.

I think many Tool songs should be based on situations that are in your ownl life. in Ticks and Leeches, i can understand what he's talking about. "leave my compassion black and blue" is saying that this person that keeps using you /living off of you , that you originally wanted to help, has left you with little compassion after he had been used by this 'leech.' that's what i think , anyway. thanks for taking the time to read my comments, bye :)
