TRAGICALLY HIP!!! Ultimate Canadian band. Who knows what this song means? It's the Hip, after all... Only Canadians can understand it and it's meaning goes beyond words.

Yea, this is a pretty damn good song. I love the hip, and guess what, I'm AMERICAN! Yea thanks for all the biased anti-american comments in here, tho guys. The Hip are a wonderful band, but why can't we all just enjoy them together, carms?

Here's a question...is this song introduced by your standard guitar/drum intro or is it a bass/drum intro. It sounds low like a bass line and the guitars are coming in from the background for me anyway. Am I right, wrong or somewhere in between? This is a song where the bass is winning all over the instruments. I love the slides down the bass right before the title is uttered by Downie. The bass gets little respect among musical fanatics and that why I like to give them props. Rock on, Sinclair.

Hint #9: If your friend's last name was McCormack and you lived in South Park, what question would ask him right off the bat.

I'm pretty sure that unforgettable intro is the bass. I'll agree nobody respects the bass, even though it's a pretty critical instrument. You gotta respect gordie 2 though, loving his backup lyrics long time. COURAGE! MY WORD!

I'm pretty sure the "Movie" they refer to in the song is one of the Superman movies. Superman II I think.

I think Mr. Fully Completely hit the nail on the head with that one... but Gord's over aplicable lyrics can mean so much by saying very little. Best song writer this day and age. I think this song could be bult arround the ever so popular "Knowledge is Power" cliche.

A real Canadian band, a real Canadian song. It has to be to have been the theme song to a show titled "Made in Canada."
