This song was actually written for Adam Clayton, the bassist. He was struggling with alcohol, and I think it was saying to look toward the band, and toward God for help(all the band members except Adam Clayton are religious).

I'm pretty certain that this song is NOT about Christ or Christ's love. The first problem is that the lyrics submitted above are incorrect. It's not "His love will last forever." It's "THIS love will last forever." I've never heard the story about the song being written about Adam Clayton. I do know that he had issues with alcohol abuse. But that didn't cause issues with the band until The Joshua Tree, so I doubt that claim. I think it's about relationships and the struggles that each of us go through to make them work. And that even though there are going to be tough times we need to hold on to each other. And if we love each other enough we can weather any storm. Come to think of it, maybe we're all right.

Apart from Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Year's Day, this was the first song I really liked when I bought the album.

This is my favourite U2 song. I didnt know it was about Adam, but it certainly makes sense. I love this tune.
