I believe that it's about getting over a bad situation in one's life. I adore the part that goes: And if, and if the night runs over And if the day won't last And if your way should falter Along this stony pass It's just a moment This time will pass

Sorry, guys ... but this song wasn't written about Bono's friends suicide. This is actually a song written by Michael Hutchence, the lead singer of INXS. Yes, he was a friend of Bono and yes, he did commit suicide, but Bono did not write this song. This is kind of like a tribute from U2 to pay the respects of Michael Hutchence, a dear friend.

I agree with Lyra (who is my best friend) but I also think that it is about Bono's friend's suicide

That being said, I just want to say, I just heard this song the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I just listened to it, and it's so beautiful. I'm listening to the acoustic version, which I prefer, I feel it's more empassioned and just seems to be more simple and sort of makes it more personal and close. This song made me cry. Not many songs can do that. Just wanted to give my 2 cents, peace.

I think its about moving on after a bad thing happend, when my friend killed herself I was mortified and my grades droped and was completely a mess then I heard this song and then all I could do was listen to this song and think about her. I dont care who wrote this song it is a really good song and it has good lyrics

I love this song! Even though Bono wrote it having to deal with his friend's suiside, to me this song is a little boost for any problems that I may be dealing with. I can just seem my friends trying to cheer me up during this song. This past cross country season didn't go so well, but just coming home listening to this song and other great songs on their cd, really lifted me up. I just have to get myself together when I'm stuck in a moment.
