	Well I am struck by the other comments thrown but I hear this.. It's about a one night stand, the basic male instinct to get in there, get the job done and make excuse.. maybe you get it, maybe you wont, it doesn't matter.. The chords imply the orgasm in the later half and that the guy doesn't hang around, makes an excuse, bugs out, or the alternative...he's spent his change/load, time to go.. He seduces the woman with poetry, secrets, inuendo, beauty.. Even begging and crawling to get love, understand love.. Man's concience/alter ego whispering in his ear the truth/lies?.. His want to get the woman into bed..seduction of love... The errection...the concience/alter ego.. Achtung Baby..Attention Baby I've got you, or perhaps the final act! The bridge is the act.. Later.... Man's concience/alter ego whispering in his ear the truth/lies?.. He's spent, run out of change.. Then he leaves.. But this song is so finely crafter that is open to interpretation and they've done well...I love this song..it talks on so many levels.. If you don't get it? then get something else! Who cares! Bye!

	Awesome song, incredible guitar, and I LOVE the idea of it being a phone call from Hell… very interesting… A little confusion with a line in the second verse; “It’s no secret that ambition bites the nails of success”… I’ve been trying to figure it out since I first heard the song and I still can’t get it; any ideas?

	A man will rise A man will fall On the sheer face of love Like a fly from a wall Its no secret at all I really like the chorus and the guitar solo on this song. I also like the idea of it as someone talking on a pay-phone. U2 ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

	Hmm i don't know what the song is about, maybe it is about what the people above said, how easily someone can fall. I noticed that everybody mentioned the guitar solo, can't blame them U2 are a good band and Edge is a good guitar player.

	"Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief All kill their inspiration and sing about their grief" I hope that line is meant to be ironic... Judging from Bono's style, it probably is.
