Biography
Formed in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1986, the Vaselines initially comprised Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee. The duo completed two singles, "Son Of A Gun" and "Dying For It", which balanced Kelly's abrasive guitar work with his partner's more melancholic style. McKee's quirky intonation was particularly evident on the b-side of the latter, "Molly's Lips', a song later adopted by US band Nirvana, who maintained an affection for the Vaselines" work.
