	This song is so great. For the people who 'can't understand this song, here it goes: when I was young I knew everything: Ignornace is bliss and she a punk who rarely ever took advice: She's a punk, probly a riotgrrrl, once again ignorance is bliss. ok the songs about a relationship they never thought would end, a baby was born because of a careless mistake and they had one little disagreement, he broke up with her and she took a weeks worth of stress relievers/anti depressants and she died. He feels very guilty and cries alot. They never talked of lacking relationships, so therefore the relationship got worse because they didnt talk about their problems. The guy is trying to not take the blame by saying she was the one that fell in love and he's not responsible even though he feels guilty "For the life of me I cannot remember What made us think that we were wise and We'd never compromise For the life of me I cannont believe We'd ever die for these sins We were merely freshmen " that means he doesent know why he can't compromise with her, and why it had to end in the first place. Umm, I'll stop rambling now.

	Missboy, you rule, that is a totally sweet interpretation. I'm a big fan of the idea that a song can say more than what the writer put into it-- since the line says "stopping baby's breath AND a shoe full of rice" instead of "with a shoe full of rice" or something, i'm inclined to agree with you. True love can be a sad thing, but the people who take the hit, giving up their happiness because they know that in the long run it will hurt the one they love, those people are the ones who I think deserve more respect than anyone else. Those who have never been in love can have no idea how much they give up.

	baby's breath is a flower maybe it symbolized flowers put on her grave? just a guess

	I think it might say "stalk of baby's breath", which would be more describing the flower, which combined with the shoe full of rice would indicate a wedding more than anything else. I could be wrong though.
