I agree with DADSonACID.... Totally brilliant Xylophone solo!!!! I love that the Femmes use so much percussion in their music... Not entirely sure about the meaning though. Someone searching for love and not finding it? Anyone actually know for sure?

i agree with the ideas that the song is about a lover in high school that they either went separate ways or they just broke up but the girl still kinda meant something to him...the love is gone...blue eyes-blue indicates sadness or being teary eyed. it is sad that his love has gone away... Tell by the way that you switch your walk (that the love is gone) I can see by the way that you baby talk (that the love is gone) I can know by the way that you treat your man (that the love is gone away) I can love you baby 'til it's a crime those verses don't mean she's unhappy. the overall theme is that her love is gone away and he can tell it's gone away because she switched her walk (she's grown up or he has and their lives have changed) that she's talking baby talk so she probly has a kid by now and by the way she loves her man so she's in another relationship and loves that guy not gordan gano...

I think it's about loss of innocence. Maybe a long lost high school love.
