| uh well me and my brother spent a long time discussing this song and we figured rivers was probably talking about his fans (since he seems to pretty much hate them nowadays i guess)... but then it sounds pretty personal, so maybe he's talking about himself? | |

| maybe he's pissed...but does he really have to take it out on his fans? he's transformed into this like totally scary lumberjack rivers (note the beard) what happened to the geeky harvard undergrad who shared his sexual frustrations and weird asian girl fetish. any takers? | |

| this song is about what Rivers went through in the four years between pinkerton and the green album. everyone must have been on his back to do something with his life. anyways, that's what i think... | |

| Rivers is too complex to have this song be about the fans, I think, fromseeing him onstage and talking with Pat, the drummer, that he appreciates the fans, and its obvious that he enjoys the energy of the crowd. But he is a little crazy, which is why his music is so wonderful. I was doing security and the head of his tour security staff told my supervisor to have none of the people working backstage to look at him because it makes him uncomfortable. If you read the article in Guitar WOrld you can get a real good feel for who Rivers is and what he's gone through, then you can have a better chance trying to understand what Rivers meant when he wrote SLob, or any of his other songs | |

| It can also mean that an older brother who got sidetracked with his life and is now in the gutter but is angry at his younger brother who is slacking off when he has the chance to improve. | |

| Well, i dont think Slob is about fans or anything like that... i think Rivers is talking about being in love with a girl who doesnt feel the same way about him... telling him to go get a life instead of dreaming of a relationship thats not gonna work out anyway (for whatever reasons)... it sounds like hes been trying anything to make this work and still the girls always complaining over ridiculous things that dont matter when you are in love ("...Waiting for little clues to appear that I drank some of grandaddy's beer..."). This song is so intense, it almost made me cry first time i heard it. | |

| me and my friends argued what this was about. we had 2 ideas to debate. 1) a psychiatrist telling rivers what to do with his life. i cant remember the other idea this was awhile ago. but then the psychiatrist idea didnt make much sence with the line "Sent by someone who calls up and says: 'I don't like how you're living my life'" idunno | |
