Yeah, the 1951 switch in the movie Tomym makes more sense. On the album it states Sally Simpson married a rock star from California, but assuming she is 14ish in 1930, then by the time there were any rock stars to marry she'd be like 45-50ish... it is possible, but highly improbable.

The film is a little strange I guess, and not that great, but the album is great. Really like this song.

The album is fantastic, this song is amazing to sing along with, the movie's kind of weirdly amusing and funny, and I agree, Ann Margaret is a bit disgusting and unnerving when she's rolling around in beans, chocolate, and soapsuds that are being blasted out of a television screen.

It's not about being age 21, it's about the year 1921. In the movie, they changed it to 1951.

Man I really hated the movie, (come one, the Beans! what was up with that? I mean I KNOW it was to illustrate excess, etc., but Ann Margaret really freaked me out); also the 21-51 switcharoo was unnecessary, Tommy was supposed to be gowing up in 20s/30s London... ahhh well artistic licence can still kick you in the ass

oh, another point on this song, very important: The husband walks in, Kills boyfirend, they realize Tommy had seen it and say "you didn't hear it, you didn't see it..." etc. if you notice on the album, the lyrics are echoed, this is Tommy seeing the murder through the mirror, and because of the trauma, the mirror is his gateway into being the deaf, dumb and blind boy as the shattering of the mirror will be his awakening out of that state later.

the album is good, but uncle ernie is way more twistedly funny in the movie when Keith Moon sings it.

Yeah, absolutely fantastic song. Tommy very well may be my favorite album of all-time, and this song is one of the reasons why. I just love the whole concept behind the album.

Yeah, some serious continuity issues going on in this album. 1951 would make much more sense. Also acid wasn't popular until the 60's (for the Acid Queen).
