Band: Zao
Album: Funeral Of God
Song: Praise The War Machine
Drop C tuning

The bass keeps the beat with the bass drum most of the time. So a lot of the rhythm
of the bass falls right in line with the drum beat.

Whoa. That was some crazy stuff. Really like the song. As for the meaning, I'm going to have to agree with the opinions here. I need to get this album instead of bumming CDs from people.

To me, I think this song is more or less Armageddon in the album. It is prophecized in "The Rising End" and it is actually carried out here.

I realized how morbid I was just today when all I could remember off the top of my head was "Pile up the countless corpses and on them we shall dine." I still love the Zao! But yes. I have to agree with Skeezix AND keyman. Both present a fair argument, but I think that the song is a middle ground between them. That after God died, man did begin to seek Him and in the process found satan who pretty much said "Meh, do whatever you want it is ok with me." The term warmachine holds a dual meaning here: man's evil nature and Satan. In short, 666. "The death of the Omega pilots the war machine We shall destroy the earth Rebuild it None shall inherit it" God has died/gone away/whatever and now Satan and man run rampant without check. WE is a key word here. It doesn't mean Satan it means man and satan. If it were just Satan it would be He, not we. "The earth it shall burn bright tonight in our eyes The earth it shall burn right into our eye on this very night Praise the war machine Burn tonight" Again, a plural I, OUR eyes not HIS. The warmachine is 666, the union of man and Satan.

Here's my take... The whole cd is about "What if God decided to leave, period." right? We caused him to leave. We caused him to go away. The way I understand this song, and this is my interpretation... God creates man with free will, without God no good can come of the world, there is no God to assist man, watch over man, and because of us he leaves. We caused the death of God, HE left us because of our actions. We ARE the war machine. Man decides he will "rebuild the earth" in by that i believe it means he does with it what he pleases. War, death, and more death. In second verse I believe means that man runs free and the term "run us through your jaws" is man being torn in such a way that he is seperated entirely from heaven, God and any terms of good, with no heavenly body to empower man in a good way, the flesh takes over and so does evil and the third verse i believe signifies that. Evil comes to free man because man is nothing without God. Man is 666, man is evil incarnate because there is no God, only the flesh remains with free will. No more order, there is disruption, war, death. The earth burns in massive hate and war, man killing man. No perfect earth, no God to come, man destroys himself, war. Perhaps thats just my take. Perhaps I'm wrong, but thats my own take on it.

yes all of you seem to have the right meaning. its based on the same ideas. and the song is truly haunting to think of. im glad people chose to interpret the song, besides shun it away like a lot of orthodox christians when they see the title "The Funeral of God"

though on that end, i do believe this song is more about some terrible cataclysm that descends upon man, humanity runs to satan for shelter, the line (666 the number of man BROUGHT UPON by man) suggests that we did something that went out of control, and in order to save ourselves, we went to satan. maybe, somethin like that lol

i agree with keyman on this one. its the new world order that has come into play. it's all decay and destruction, until the new world is reforged by the men of this world.

The death of the Omega pilots the war machine We shall destroy the earth Rebuild it None shall inherit it Blood turned into fire Made to drink like wine Pile up the countless corpses and on them we shall dine-The "death" or leaving of God will destroy the earth due to the sinful free nature of man. After we destroy the earth,we will rebuild it to-what is in our eyes-perfection which will just cause death and death and a side of death, leaving none left to inherit the earth, and leaving a pile of corpses on which we shall dine. We praise you, war machine You've come to set us free Run us through your jaws Carry us off in your claws-The war machine, being the inhabitants of the earth(us) are the war machine itself. Look at all the war going on around us. And because of our nature,we will praise ourselves rather than God,and it will carry us off, running us through self destructions jaws, killing us. Cut away body from soul A slave freed from his master Closing the spirit's eye to embrace this earthly tie-Cutting ourselves away from God,ourselves being the body and God being the soul, like a slave freed from his master(pretty self explanitory). as we draw away from our master-God, we close our eyes and do as we please so we don't have to look God in the face as we sin. 666 (The number of man brought upon by man)-666 is the number of man,and it was brought upon by man,and our sinful nature. The earth it shall burn bright tonight in our eyes The earth it shall burn right into our eye on this very night Praise the war machine Burn tonight-We have destroyed the earth beyond all hope of redemption and all we can do it sit and watch as it burns. And we look at all the destruction the war machine(we) have caused and watch as it(we) burn also. That is what I take from the song. To me this song is about how much we sin,and the consequences of it.

To an extent, I believe that you are right, Skeezix. But now, this whole song looks different to me. God has made his exit and man tries to take his place. As earth's new rulers, we decide to destroy and rebiuld based on our own minds of how things should be. More death, destruction, decay results (what a surprise) and we attain the fullness of man, 666. Not perfect but closer than ever before in relation to our own greatness. Personally, this song makes me agree with Puck. "Oh what fools these mortals be."
